Glider cushions are a great way to enhance both the appearance and the comfort of your glider.  Though not overly expensive, you still do not want to be replacing them due to wear before you really have to.  So it is important to keep them in the best shape possible for as long as you can.  The following are some basic guidelines for maintaining your glider cushions.

First of all, make sure you clean your glider cushions often and regularly.  The best way is to simply wipe them down with a cloth or a sponge.  This will help to prevent mildew that will otherwise form due to dampness and dirt on the surface of the cushion.  An alternative to frequent cleaning is to store your cushions when not in use.  But even if you do store them away, they will probably still need to be cleaned from time to time.

Sometimes your cushions, whether they be glider cushions or bar stool replacement cushions, will require more than just a spot cleaning or a wiping down, such as when they become stained.  As long as you do not wait too long to clean the stains, they should not be too difficult to remove.  In many cases all it will take is a solution of mild detergent in warm water.  You can use something like Ivory Snow or any one of the number of oxygen or citrus based cleaners now available without having to worry about damaging the fabric of the cushion.

Unless the manufacturer of your cushions has pretreated them with specialized chemicals, they are likely to fade after being exposed to the sun for a while.  You can keep them from fading too quickly, and prolong their attractiveness, by cleaning them regularly with a dilute solution of pine cleaner in cold water.  Just apply it gently with a sponge, rinse the cleaner with water, and then let it dry.
