Day Beds For The Innovative
Day beds and futons are fairly similar pieces of furniture. The main difference is that a day bed doesn’t fold out into a full sized bed like a futon mattress bed does. This can be a smart purchase if you don’t need a full sized bed, but want something to relax on. The name day bed came from the fact that you sleep, or take naps, and this bed during the day. You use your regular bed at night and this one in the day. This is basically a big couch or sofa and most people like to call it a day bed.
You can use day beds as full sized kids beds! This is a great way to make your kids bedroom look pretty elegant, and have a bed for them at the same time. This is also cool for the kids because if they are having a sleep over, a day bed is probably going to be large enough for two or more kids. The day bed frame often comes unassembled, so you’re going to have to follow the instructions on putting it together. This isn’t a problem in most cases as the instructions are very detailed. Just make sure it’s sturdy before you let people sleep on it!
You’ll want to choose day bed covers well for your day beds. Choosing a day bed cover that looks good will go a long way to the beautification of your home. Day bed bedding doesn’t have to be expensive material purchased at a big fancy store. Instead you can just get good looking fabric at a local fabric store, or just look through what you already have! There’s a good chance that you have beautiful unused fabric laying around somewhere that would make an excellent day bed cover. You can however get day bed comforters that are more expensive. These are usually sets that include pillow shams, comforter and bed skirt.
Using day beds in your guest rooms is also a great idea. Day beds will free up a lot of floor space and allow your guests to have both sleeping room and room to put their things. Often when a guest room is filled completely with a king size bed or queen sized bed, the room feels like you can’t do anything in there except sleep. It feels cramped. We never want our guests to feel cramped, so a day bed is a great solution to this. They will both be comfortable and large enough for a guest to enjoy a few nights.
