Chandeliers are quickly becoming the decorative choice for many people who like fancier lighting than the standard kind found in most homes. Typically they have been used for decorating in entrance foyers, or dining rooms. Lately they have found their way into most other rooms of the house. This is because they have evolved in size from the usual large hanging decoration, down to much smaller miniature sizes. These smaller versions are able to be utilized in bedrooms and bathrooms over vanities, living rooms, and just about any other living space.
With the proliferation of home renovation and decorating shows found on the major television channels, viewers are seeing just how stunning a lighting fixture of this type can be. In many of these shows the central point that the whole decorating theme is designed around them. Quite often on these shows it winds up being the main project for the design team. This is because it is a fairly easy project to do on a limited budget and time frame.

The most recent innovation for building this type of light project is the use of LED’s. This acronym stands for light emitting diode. They come in a wide variety of colors and brightness. They are quite safe to employ because they run on low voltage. It is very cheap to pick up one diode for pennies. Using many of them is still easy on the budget, and each one only uses approximately .02 of an amp, which is a very small amount of power. 50 of these little lights can be quite bright. There are a few hurdles to overcome if you plan on using LED’s. You do need to know how to solder wires to them to make the electrical circuit, and they require a step down transformer to power them.
It doesn’t matter if you buy a standard chandelier or build one; it is a great decorating idea.
